ZRS Motorsport to debut in the GT Open with a Porsche for Armanni-Fontana

One interesting new entry in the 2026 International GT Open will be ZRS Motorsport. A faithful Porsche customer, the Italian squad graduates from the GT Cup Europe, and will enter a 911 R GT3 EVO in the Pro class.

Driving the car will be Italy’s Pietro Armanni (20), who drove for ZRS last year becoming the GT Cup Europe vice champion and has a single-seater past in FRECA and F.4, and Swiss-Greek GT expert Alex Fontana (33), who needs little presentation. After a successful career in single-seaters that brougAleht him up to F.2, and yielded the Euroformula Open title in 2011, Fontana has shone in GT racing, collecting five GT World Challenge class titles along the way, and has regularly raced Porsche cars in the GT Open the last two seasons.

ZRS Motorsport, based in Rovigo, has been linked to Porsche and GT competitions in Italy before entering the GT Cup Europe, where it clinched a final third position in both Drivers’ and Teams’ standings in 2023, and Drivers’ runner-up honours last year.  The squad will also continue to participate in the junior series of GT Sport.

Team owner and principal Niccolò Zambon commented: “We are delighted to debut in the GT Open. This has been in our plans for a while and it’s a nice step up in the growth of our team. It will be a challenge but we have put together a competitive package and feel ready and determined to do well.”
