Following a thorough analysis of the evolution of the Am class in recent seasons and based also on the many comments and suggestions received from teams and drivers, GT Sport has decided to make a change in the eligibility criteria for the class which will enter into force as from the next season (2025).
So far, the class was open to pairs composed by two FIA-graded Bronze drivers. The Am class will now be open also to pairs including one Bronze driver and one FIA-graded Silver driver, provided this Silver driver is 40 years of age (or above) at the moment when the season starts.
The switch to the Am class for such pairs is not automatic. Pairs of Bronze/Silver +40 drivers will retain the possibility to compete in the Pro-Am if they so wish. They will have to indicate their choice (Pro-Am or Am) in the entry form for the season or race.
GT Sport believes this modification will dynamize and make more attractive the Am class, allowing it to keep the key role it plays in the International GT Open.
