Mertel Motorsport will make this year its debut in the International GT Open. The German squad based in Nuremberg and led by Mario Grummt has always been close to the Prancing Horse, and harvested many successes in the Ferrari Challenge. It will enter the GT Open with a Ferrari 488, after having taken the Drivers’ overall title in the GT Cup Europe in the last two years.
It is precisely reigning GT Cup Europe champions Luca Ludwig and Iván Velasco who will be at the wheel, graduating now to the upper level. The German, the son of sportscar legend Klaus, has already made a name for himself in GT3, while the Spaniard has taken the GT Cup Europe title twice, in 2023 and 2024.
