Maiden pole for the Blackthorn Aston and Jonny Adam

Jonny Adam took a maiden pole position for the Blackthorn Aston Martin shared with Charlie Bateman at the Circuit Paul Ricard in a very warm morning, which saw a great battle among British drivers and very narrow gaps (the first six were covered by less than four tenths). The Scotman stopped the clock in 2.02.112 in the closing moments of the qualifying session:  “It’s a great result from the entire Blackthorn team, and while we are a Pro-Am pair, I think Charlie and I will have a good card to play this afternoon. This is certainly one of the tracks that best suits the Aston”.

Ben Tuck, in his debut in the series with the Al Manar by Dragon Ferrari, secured a spot in the first row, only 0s041 behind the polesitter in a perfect last-lap effort. In row 2, Jo Loake in the Greystone GT McLaren (+0s073), also at his first race in the series. The young Brit, who exchanged the lead in the session with Adam until the very last minutes, saw his last attempt ruined by traffic, finishing 0s073 off.

Sharing row 2 will be championship leader Tom Emson, in the Elite Motorsport Ferrari (+0s311). In row 3, the very competitive Villorba Corse Lambo of Leonardo Moncini (+0s363) and the first Mercedes, the Motopark one of Dominik Baumann (+0s376).

The other top contenders in the standings were 9th (Pietro Armanni – ZRS Porsche) and 10th (Christian Mansell – Motopark Mercedes), while Krystian Korzeniowski (Olimp Racing Ferrari) was again the fastest in Am in 13th overall.
