Just like in Hungary, Tom Lebbon and Tom Emson won Race 2 after a ‘zero-point’ Race-1. The young duo of Elite Motorsport, in its yellow Ferrari, took no prisoners in today’s Race 2 at Paul Ricard, in another scorching afternoon, after having seen their Race 1 end in lap 1 yesterday, because of a mechanical issue.
This allows the Toms to keep the lead in the standings, now with 6 points over Christian Mansell and Maxi Götz (Motopark Mercedes), again very consistent and second today. The podium was completed by yesterday’s winners, Pietro Armanni-Alex Fontana (ZRS Motorsport), who are now the third contenders in the standings, 22 points from the top.
Blackthorn rounded a perfect weekend started with pole position for Race 1, as Charlie Bateman and Jonny Adam doubled the Pro-Am win of yesterday, ahead of Marcin Jedlinski-Karol Basz (Olimp Racing Ferrari) and Dexter Müller-Yannick Mettler (CBRX by SPS Mercedes).
In Am, third success of the season for Marcelo Hahn and Galid Osman (AF Corse Ferrari), ahead of the Lewandowskis father and son (Baron Motorsport Ferrari) and Seweryn Mazur(Sendom Racing Lamborghini).
THE RACE- Tom Lebbon took pole in a qualifying session disturbed at the end by an electrical blackout hitting the entire region. At the start (without the #26 Saintéloc Audi , the only car involved in Saturday’s multiple crash that couldn’t be repaired), the Brit keeps the advantage. First lap is much more orderly than on Saturday and for the first five laps the group is compact, with Lebbon leading over Ferrari and Fontana, within 1.5 seconds, and the group behind also very close, with Götz, Perel, Basz, Webb, Fagg, Jefferies and Meakin. Osman leads in Am over Lewandowski Jr and Wira.
Not much changes up to the driver change window which opens in lap 12. After all pit stops, Emson is in the lead with 6 seconds over Mansell and 7 over Veselaho, soon passed by Fontana. Duran is fifth ahead of Moncini, Tuck, Medler, Loake and Jedlinski, who leads in Pro-Am. In the following phases, Testa, Tuck and Loake pass Veselaho, who finishes seventh ahead of Medler, Duran and Baumann.
Victory in the Pro-Am class changes camp in the penultimate lap, as Adam passes Jedlinski, while Hahn secures the success in Am.
