The next round of the International GT Open at Circuit Paul Ricard will see an interesting new entry: Into Africa Racing by Dragon. The outfit combines Into Africa Racing and Dragon Racing, which will enter a Ferrari 296 GT3 for two African drivers, South Africa’s Xolile Letlaka and Zimbabwe’s Axcil Jefferies, and will also race at the Red Bull Ring and Monza.
Xolile Letlaka, the founder of Into Africa Racing and the South African Endurance Series, is recognized for his numerous initiatives to promote motor racing in South Africa and advocate for diversity and inclusion in motorsport. A racer himself, he already took part in some GT Open events in 2023.
Axcil Jefferies needs no introduction, being an established top driver on the GT scene and a familiar face in our series over the years.
Dubai-based Dragon Racing is partnering with Into Africa Racing since the beginning of the year, and the association has already yielded runner-up honours in the GT3 Pro-Am class of the 24 Hours Series Middle East Trophy. The squad led by Brad Fincham has been a prominent player in GT racing in the Middle East over the last twelve years, clinching five class wins at the Dubai 24 Hours and becoming Ferrari’s technical partner in the region. It has also regularly raced in Europe.
