Maxi Götz and Christian Mansell in the Team Motopark Mercedes, will be in pole for the Monza GT Open 500 tomorrow, proving that they are the men of the longer races. “We took pole and the win at Spa, and we won in the Monza 500 last year with Levente Révész : it seems that the longer races are suited to us”, said Götz, with Mansell adding: “Tomorrow’s will be a very important race for us, as our title chances will greatly depend from what we will be able to achieve.”
The pair took second-fastest in each of the two sessions, and the average time of the best laps of each driver was 1.44.452, 0s123 better than the second qualified, the Greystone GT McLaren of Dean Macdonald (first in the first session) and Zac Meakin.
In row two will be sitting the Villorba Corse Lamborghini of Rodrigo Testa-Leonardo Moncini (+0s240) and the ZRS Motorsport of Pietro Armanni-Alex Fontana (+0s264). Championship leaders Tom Lebbon and Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport) were fifth (+0s571) in the best Ferrari, sharing row 3 with Nikita Mazepin-César Gazeau (+0s600) in the third Motopark Mercedes.
The debuting FAEMS Team by Nova Race BMW of Giuseppe Forenzi and Ian Rodriguez will be in an excellent seventh position (+0s756) preceding the Motopark Mercedes of Marcelo Ramírez-Dominik Baumann (+0s813), with the Austrian posting the best time (1.44.303) in session 1.
The fastest car in Pro-Am waz the Blackthorn Aston Martin of Charlie Bateman-Henrique Chaves (+0s813), seventh overall, while in Am, the pole waz for the AF Corse Ferrari of Ray Acosta-Marco Bonanomi (+1s775).
