A new team from Poland is joining the International GT Open for the remaining three rounds of the season (Hockenheim, Monza and Barclona) with a view of a full campaign in 2027: Förch Racing by Atlas Ward.
The squad, formed in 2010 and based in Bielsko-Biala, is known for being one of the first Polish teams to have competed in GT internationally, under the direction of his founder Robert Lukas, today retired as a driver. Förch Racing has been mostly (but not only) active in Porsche mono-brand competitions, winning the 2020 Teams’ title in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, and several titles in the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland, including overall in 2022. Other achievements include a class win at the Dubai 24 Hours. The team has a tradition of fostering young talents, such as Rene Rast, Connor De Phillipi, Klaus Bächler and Dylan Pereira in the past, while Poland’s national hero Robert Kubica also drove for the team.
Förch Racing by Atlas Ward is joining the GT Open at Hockenheim with a Porsche 911 GT3R for a pair of Bronze drivers, Jakub Dwernicki and Tomasz Magdziarz, who are both 48 and have experience in GT Sport-promoted series.
Robert Lukas commented: “We made a single appearance in the GT Open back in 2017, at Monza, when I was still driving but that’s a very long time ago! Our team has been quite successful with the Porsche Cup cars, but now we want to revive our GT3 programme, and the GT Open is the place where we want to be, hopefully for a full campaign next year. It’s a very competitive series, an ideal platform to continue growing for our Am driver pair and us as a team.”
