Alex Fontana took his second pole of the season ahead of Race 2 in Hockenheim. On a cooler and overcast morning in Baden-Württemberg, the Swiss of ZRS Motorsport, in the Porsche shared with Pietro Armanni which took third in Race 1 yesterday, posted a time of 1.36.841. He narrowly beat (0s140) the championship leading Elite Motorsport Ferrari of Tom Emson, with whom he battled for pole throughout the entire session.
“The car was very good”, explained Fontana, “and despite the fact we haven’t tested on this track, we could be very fast. My first flying lap was enough to secure the pole, as others couldn’t improve their first attempt either.”
With four car brands represented in the top six, second row will be for the Blackthorne Aston Martin of Jonny Adam (+0s337) and the Fach Auto Tech Porsche of Alexander Fach (+0s403), who will be seeking for revenge after yesterday’s misfortunes.
In row 3 will be Tommaso Mosca in the AF Corse Ferrari (+0s552) and the Motopark Mercedes of Maxi Götz (+0s723), the main challenger in the title fight.
Brazil’s Galid Osman, in the AF Corse Ferrari, was the fastest in Am and 12th overall (+1s309).
